I purchased this because it was a good price, but, as many of you know, you get what you pay for.As soon as I got it, I tried to use it. Every USB port I put it in, it said that there was a problem with the device. I looked on-line to see if there were any drivers (the disc it came with was only good for Win 98) - nothing worked. It might have been a bad one, but, it was a brand I never heard of and that should have been it for me.Only gave it the one star because it looked nice and very lightweight, but, it didn't work, so - that really means nothing.
If you don't have a floppy drive anymore, and you occasionally need to read or write a floppy, this inexpensive unit will do the job. It works under XP with no drivers. It's a bit sluggish in the writing operation on my desktop but it did retrieve all the files from an old floppy and saved me a lot of typing. I'm glad to have it around just in case, but I'm glad floppies have seen their day.
Just what I needed. Great price. Compact. Worked great. Very happy with purchase.
When we purchased our latest computer we discovered to our dismay there was no floppy drive. The only negitive; way too short USB cable, why so short only the manufacturer really knows. We have tons of floppy disks with "stuff" on them we want to access, wa-la the prefect fix the Sabrent USB external floppy drive. I just pluged it into an available USB port, the computer immediatly recognized it and we were in business, just that simple. We overcame with an extension cord. Great product and we can again access our "stuff".
Works perfectly from any USB port to prepare 3.5" floppies for my 20 year old computer.
